* La Ponderosa *

uk24  During our 2016 vacation on Majorca island, we were also exploring some locations – the Spanish are some relaxed dudes when it comes to abandoned buildings.

The „Ponderosa“ was a mix of pub, restaurant and dancing spot – but like many other bussinesses on the island, it was built in the wrong spot. It is located about 5 kilometers away from the next beach town, on the inner island. On Majorca, this is the same as it was built in the center of the Sahara desert. Who is going to walk or drive 5 kilometers, if he has 50 other spots right in front of the hotel?

It’s difficult to say when the Ponderosa was shut down. When exploring the location, we found some old papers dating back to 1994 – so it is probably abandoned for some 22 years. This would fit to its state of dilapidation. In all, it was a nice by-catch on a long day tour, nothing more or less.
