Die Wollspinnerei * The Wool Spinning Factory

uk24The exploration of this long abandoned spinning mill was a very special adventure. An unusually mild day in early January, but also unusually wet and stormy. The whole trip, heavy rain accompanies us, and it does’nt stop when we reach our destination. On the periphery of the small town stand the ruins of the factory. Lots of openings are in the fences, and thus we are quickly inside. We pass long warehouses, all of them are locked. But one of the factory buildings is wide open. Everywhere inside the building we can hear the rattling of loose roof parts in the wind. Anytime, you want to look up if anything will hit you. But nothing happens. The location is so big and has so many photo motifs, even with a group of five, you don’t stand in the way of your companions. You can discover older and newer machinery – it seems, the bankruptcy came quick and unexpected. Inside a locker room lie heaps of old documents – the oldest dating back more than 100 years. An impressive find. While exploring the buildings, a short but heavy winter thunderstorm passes above the factory. Time to leave. The vibes of this trip will stay a while in our minds…
