Das Drahtwerk * The Wire Factory

uk24 The Wire Factory that I am presenting here was my very first „real“ urban exploration tour – long before the term „urbex“ was known. In the year 2001 I spent a lot of money to buy one of those new digital bridge cameras, the legendary Olympus Ultrazoom 2100. These pictures were shot with the Olympus, in fact the factory was the first big theme the camera was used for. I did only a minimum of work on these pictures to preserve my „run & shoot“ photo style of the old days – only a bit of cropping and saturation and contrast editing.

Now for the location: a long and narrow area, the far end was still in use by the surviving remains of the otherwise shut down factory. The buildings shown here were still partially used for storing products – despite of their apparent decay. We always had to be cautious to not get run over by one of the forklifts driving around. But no one cared who was walking around with a camera. Meanwhile, the remainder of the factory is also bankrupt and shut down – time for a re-visit, I suppose 😉
