In einem kleinen Ort im Südwesten steht dieses alte Kino. Im Nachkriegs-Wirtschaftsaufschwung der 1950er Jahre wurde es gegründet, im gleichen Gebäude befand sich auch noch eine Gaststätte, die von der gleichen Familie betrieben wurde. Das Lichtspielhaus war ein beliebter Treffpunkt für Jung und Alt, aber im Verlauf der 1970er Jahre verringerten sich die Besucherzahlen im gleichen Maße, wie die Popularität des Fernsehens anstieg. So wurde das Kino 1976 stillgelegt. Die angegliederte Kneipe wurde noch bis Mitte der 1980er Jahre betrieben, dann war dort auch Schluss. Seitdem steht das Gebäude leer und verfällt zusehends. Da es sich durch seinen Zustand zu einem Schandfleck in dem schmucken Ort entwickelt hat, hat die Gemeinde das Anwesen angekauft und wird es im Laufe dieses Jahres (2013) abreißen. Trotz des langjährigen Leerstands ist das Kino von Vandalismus und Graffitischmierern völlig verschont geblieben. Eine Besonderheit des Gebäudes war, dass der Hauptsaal von seinen Sitzreihen befreit und als Festsaal verwendet werden konnte. So wurden dort zB. auch Kappensitzungen des örtlichen Karnevalsvereins durchgeführt.

This old movie theater stands in the center of a small town in south-west Germany. It was founded in the post-war economic boom of the 1950s. The owning family also ran a pub in the same building. The cinema was a popular meeting point for the young and old people of town, but with the increasing popularity of TV in the 1970s, the attendance diminished more and more. So, the movie theater was shut down in 1976. The pub kept operating till the mid-1980s, then it was put out of service, too. Since then, the building stands vacant and is decaying slowly. Because of the building’s state of advanced dilapidation, it has become an eyesore in the otherwise pretty town, and so the town’s council decided to demolish it in 2013. Despite of the long-time abandonment, the whole building is remarkably free of any vandalism or graffiti stains. One specialty of the building was that the seating rows of the main hall could be removed for using the hall as ballroom. For example, the local carnival club held their sessions here.
